Business Transformation
Business transformation is a change management strategy which can be defined as any shift, realignment or fundamental change in business operations. The aim is to make changes to processes, people or systems (technology) to better align the company with its business strategy and vision. If our success is measured by how successful the Business becomes after using our software, then Business Transformation consulting has to be an integral part of our service offering.
Too often in digital transformations the focus is heavy on ‘digital’ and light on ‘transformation’. Our approach seeks to balance this relationship by providing a fully integrated program that ensures the maximum customer focused business value is created as we introduce new and progressive technology. This will enhance the competitive position of the customer and provide a platform for innovation well into the future
Information Technology Transformation
The IT industry's traditional project management methods have yielded a dismal success rate. Research indicates that large application development projects have a staggering 90% combined lack-of-success rate over two decades. Small projects have a higher success rate of getting completed, but a low success rate at actually adding value for the business. We challenge the status quo, opting for a path less traveled. Thinking bigger leads to less complexity, reduced costs, and increased odds of business success. We take an enterprise view of all applications, not just a one application at a time view. We feel very strongly that Enterprise Application Architecture matters and that data is fundamental to business success for our customers.
The "Transformational Analyst"
On all of our projects we assign several Business Analysts. The Business Analysts that we assign to the projects do more than listen to and understand the requirements as gathered from the Subject Matter Experts (affectionately known as SME's.) They will listen to the requirements as articulated, but they will look beyond the words of the use case to the business intent behind the use case. The transformational analyst will then in conjunction with the application architects and designers find a way to satisfy the use case in a way that will reduce complexity and make the business a little more productive with less effort.
Architecture to support Business Transformation
If you have a look at the "architecture of everything" one of the common services provided to each of the unique business applications is a "Product definition.:" service. This is a common method of defining all products (Product Designer) and services across the enterprise. In the architecture we define the products and services as data and then we develop a user interface for the business experts (transformational analysts) to define or change their own products and services.
Products and Services can be flexible by Company, Business unit, or Region. Products are flexible by Line-of-business, Product Line, Product, Product components, and Product characteristics. The setting of: Product Prices, Rates, Fees, Taxes, Inclusions or Exclusions, etc. are all a part of the well architected Product Designer admin service application.
