Motor Vehicle and Driver License Systems
The project involved the replacement of the legacy Driver, Vehicle and related systems to support Saskatchewan Government Insurance’s (SGI’s) Auto Fund programs. At a high level this included, vehicle registrations and insurance, driver licensing, driver programs, highway permits, international registration program, driver testing, vehicle standards, and traffic safety research. The project was a multi-year initiative which included design, development, integration and conversion. The project involved data sharing with multiple jurisdictions and agility in changing business processes due to regulations.
This is an enterprise application that is used by SGI and its approximately 400 independent license issuers throughout the province.

The project team worked closely in collaboration with SGI resources on project management and an overall implementation plan included five releases to be implemented during the duration of the project.
The project completed over a 4 year period with successful phased implementations. The overall program completed on time and on budget and the resulting product is world class.
- Process deliverables: Project plan, requirement document, test plan, test result log, defect log, issue log, design document, source code, API design document, User and system documentation.
- Solution deliverables: The deliverables included releases for Driver Licensing, Vehicle Registration, Web enablement and One-Part Driver Licensing; Permit issuance; data conversion including conversion of image file and custom developed Business Rules engine.
